OverviewPacific Gas and Electric Company's Gas Transmission
organization operates approximately 6,000 miles of pipelines,
nearly 200,000 hp of compression and three storage
facilities.Position Summary***This position is represented by
Engineers & Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective
bargaining.***This position will report to the Supervisor of PFL
Services and work under the direction of a Senior Field Design
Engineer as a member of the PFL Services team in San Ramon. As an
Engineers & Scientists of California (ESC) represented Field Design
Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for
reviewing gas transmission construction as-built job packages, mill
tests, strength test pressure reports and other documentation to
help incorporate changes to Pipeline Features Lists (PFLs), or data
sets containing pipeline specifications of PG&E's gas
transmission assets. The successful candidate may also provide
training and guidance to peers.The successful candidate should be
proficient in interpreting and understanding engineering drawings,
federal and state regulations, and company design standards. The
ideal candidate will be detail oriented and capable of following
established processes and procedures. The successful candidate will
also need to be comfortable applying sound engineering judgement
and conservative assumptions in the appropriate situations. Since
PFL Services feeds PFL data downstream to ultimately be
incorporated into the gas transmission GIS, a self-motivated
individual who is passionate about building and maintaining a
robust PFL database will be a good fit for the team and larger
organization.PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the
company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at
the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to
the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an
individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not
limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications,
experience, market value, geographic location, collective
bargaining agreements, and internal equity. This position is
subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates.The hourly rate
for this position ranges from $45.28 to $75.30. Under the terms of
the collective bargaining agreement, the starting hourly rate for
this position is $45.28, subject to collectively bargained wage
increases.Job Responsibilities* Performs engineering work in
reviewing as-built construction documentation to build out or
update PFLs or parts thereof.* Reviews redlined as-built job
packages, designs, calculations, drawings, layouts and/or studies
from field inspections, preliminary sketches, rough diagrams,
specifications.* Checks drawings, designs, or other work.*
Coordinates and directs the work of employees in lower
classifications and provides guidance training, orientation, or
familiarization purposes to associates engaged in allied
work.QualificationsMinimum:* A bachelor's degree in the appropriate
field of engineering from a recognized college or its equivalent in
education and experience. Such experience may include two or more
years in drafting and at a level equivalent to that of a Design
DrafterDesired:* Experience with PFL work
