toward the vision of ending the cycle of poverty.About the roleUWBA
is seeking a Director, Grants Compliance, to oversee the financial,
compliance, and reporting aspects of our grant and contract
portfolio. This is a critical leadership role that ensures we
maximize our impact while staying aligned with funder guidelines,
internal policies, and strategic goals.In partnership with the
Controller, Community Impact, and Development teams, you will lead
the grant lifecycle-from budgeting and fund tracking to compliance
reporting and audit coordination. You'll also directly supervise
our Grants Specialist, helping to build internal capacity and drive
excellence in grants management.What you'll do
- Track & Monitor Grants: Ensure all grant funds are tracked
accurately and used in compliance with funder restrictions and
organizational policies.
- Ensure Compliance: Oversee adherence to grant agreements,
contingencies, donor restrictions, and internal procedures.
- Lead Reporting & Invoicing: Manage all grant-related reporting
and invoicing processes, maintaining clear, timely, and accurate
documentation.
- Develop Budgets: Collaborate with program managers and Finance
to create project-specific and organizational budgets.
- Monitor Expenditures: Regularly review and approve expenses,
including subrecipient payments, to ensure accuracy and
compliance.
- Maintain Records: Keep comprehensive and organized financial
records for all grant activities.
- Coordinate Audits: Serve as the point person for funder reviews
and single audits related to grants.
- Drive Strategic Alignment: Ensure all grant work supports
UWBA's strategic objectives.
- Foster Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Community
Impact and Development to facilitate grant processing, tracking,
and compliance.
- Update Policies: Refine internal controls and procedures to
meet evolving best practices and regulatory standards.
- Lead Projects: Manage resources and timelines effectively to
meet grant and compliance goals.Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in grants compliance, finance,
or nonprofit accounting
- 1-3 years of supervisory or team lead experience
- Strong communication skills and a detail-oriented, analytical
mindset
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Solid understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting (fund
accounting, revenue recognition, restricted assets)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general ledger systems
(MIP preferred)
- Experience with relational databases (Salesforce
preferred)
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a
collaborative teamUWBA is committed to equitable and transparent

thoughtfully determined based on our structured approach to pay
equity. As part of this commitment, we do not engage in salary
negotiations.The pay range for this role is:117,000 - 117,000 USD
per year (San Francisco)54 FinanceThis is a hybrid position that
requires some in-person attendance at meetings and events.
