YES FLOAT: May float to ED, Step Down Unit, or Central Monitoring Department. Skills: Accessing Ports, Arterial line management, Assist with management of BiPAP*, Assist with management of CPAP*, Blood Product Administration, Care of Ventilated Patient, Central line care/management, Chronic/Acute Renal failure*, Continuous IV paralytics/Neuromuscular blockade, Continuous IV sedation, CVA/Acute Stroke management, Emergency Medications, External ventricular drain (EVD), FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring*, GI surgery*, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring*, Infection Prevention, Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs), Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Isolation Precautions/ Use of PPE, IV insulin protocols, Lumbar drains*, Management of dysrhythmias, Management of patient with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure*, Neuro Intensive Care Unit, Obtain 12 lead EKG/ECG, Phlebotomy*, PICC line management, Post Neurosurgery management, Procedural Sedation Administration, Spinal cord injury*, Starting and maintaining IVs, Suctioning (ETT, NT), Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac, Thermoregulation: hypothermia/hyperthermia, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips, Traumatic Brain injury, Ventilator Management Unit Details: Patient Ratios Days: 2 Patient Ratios Nights: 2 Patient Ratios Weekends: 2 Patient Age Groups: Adults, Geriatrics Daily Census: 18 to 22 Number of Visits Per Day: 4 Number of Rooms: 24 Number of Beds: 24 Interdisciplinary Support: IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, Unit Secretary Patient Diagnoses: Primary service lines include: 1) Level two Trauma ICU 2) Neuro/Stroke ICU Post thrombectomy and TNK patients that require detailed and frequent neuro checks. Post procedural/surgical Trauma patients. Medical Surgical level of care required for other diagnosis of patients including preparation of patient for organ procurement for donation. Cardiac, burn, or transplant patients are triaged to other Sutter facilities that specialize in these services. Special Procedures/Unit Details: 24 bed ICU split between 2 wings (A and B): no differentiation or consolidation of specific patient diagnosis or specialty. ICU Team works really well in supporting each other in a fast-paced environment with quick turn around and patient throughput. Special Equipment: Massive Blood Transfusion EVD management and monitoringICP management and monitoring Post cardiac arrest cooling protocol Post thrombolytic and TNK monitoringCamino Bolt management and monitoring.
